Shamas and Sophie are a bonded pair. Watching these two is an amazing example of just how wonderful dogs are. Shamas is blind and Sophie serves as his guide. Believed to be in their teens, they are both relatively healthy for their age. A slight heart murmur was picked up on Shamus, but other than that, no major health issues found.
Sophie has a spay appointment in March , and they will be available for adoption after she recovers.

Timmy arrived at Miko’s Sanctuary a hot mess with a pervasive flea infestation and testicular cancer. The massive tumor was removed and Timmy is now on the path to recovery. He was treated for fleas and his fur is growing back nicely on his back end. We were excited that the pathology report was positive reporting the margins were clear. His back is arched but he still gets around just fine.
Timmy is a sweet little guy, but does initially have trust issues. He barks at strangers, but we feel that part of his fear stems from him being in so much pain. Once he’s seen you a few times, he greets you with love. Timmy will need someone who is patient with him while he heals and learns to trust. He is 12 plus yrs old, up to date on vaccines and weighs 20 lbs.

Niko is a Miniature Pinscher / Chihuahua mix and is approximately 10 yrs old. She arrived needing to be spayed and with mammary tumors. The tumors have been removed and we were thrilled that pathology reported that all were benign. Sadly, during her surgery, a needle was discovered inside of her. After two professional opinions, it was decided to leave it there. Annual x-rays are recommended to make sure the needle has not moved. She doesn't show any signs of pain from it. She also had a dental in April. Niko has come a long way and is now in need of a family that will accept her for who she is. She is now spayed, chipped, and up to date on vaccines. She will need a home with a fenced yard. Niko listens very well, except for when she sees a squirrel or rabbits. Then it’s game on and no holding her back!

Kelly is a Miniature Pinscher who is approximately 10 yrs old. She came to the sanctuary with several masses on her body. Through the amazing support of our community, we were able to raise the funds to have all masses removed in July 22. At that time, pathology came back as lipomas. Kelly also has an enlarged heart and will need lifelong medication to help her heart pump more efficiently.
Kelly is currently in foster and thriving! She is a complete love bug , good with the other dogs, and seeks attention. She is house-trained and crate trained.
