Our Mission

Miko’s Sanctuary is a small non-profit organization that aims to provide lifelong sanctuary for abandoned, neglected, and abused senior dogs. Our goal is to fill a much-needed niche for difficult-to-adopt senior pets so that they can live out their golden days with the same comfort as their glory days. We are operated entirely by members and volunteers in conjunction with local shelters, rescues, and clinics to provide loving homes and end-of-life care for our older canine companions.

Our goal is to get them out of the shelter/kennel environment and into a loving home with other pets and people to provide them with care and companionship. Once here, our animals receive all the individualized care and vetting necessary, as well as a quiet and loving country home to enjoy their senior years. Each and every dog that we save is precious to us. Although most of our dogs are probably considered unadoptable, we do occasionally have some that are relatively healthy and that we feel would be happier in a more private home environment. These dogs are listed on our adoptable dogs page.  Please consider adopting a senior. They may be short on teeth but are still full of love and companionship!

Of course, if someone falls in love with and is willing to take a chance on any one of our special needs sanctuary dogs, we are always open to discussion. We promise to fully disclose any significant health issues we are aware of and current medical needs. We strongly believe that no senior deserves to die feeling alone, unloved, and unwanted in a cold shelter environment. We do realize that end-of-life care is costly and our future growth relies heavily on donations. Every cent matters and is guaranteed to go towards medical needs. Please consider donating to help us help them.
